The Globesville team creates and collects original video and features which focus on the activities, interests, and goals of the NYIT community. Our goal is to unite students and alumni located around the world via a social network that strives to be

a premier media outlet on and off campus. Our strategy is to advance opportunity for understanding across geographic and cultural boundaries by engaging the interests of our audience and cultivating the discussion of those interests through our network. Leading up to the 2020 Presidential Election, President has repeatedly blamed China for the outbreak and has publicly promised to make them pay. These claims are largely without merit.

Meanwhile, has been advancing its territorial claims in areas where the U.S. is committed militarily, the Chinese army has released videos touting their ability to take on the U.S., and China’s state media has run a propaganda campaign warning Washington not to test China’s might. Yet, the Trump administration continues to test them.

On September 18, 2020, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg passed away. On September 26, President Trump nominated covervative Justice Amy Coney Barret to be Ginsburg’s successor. Many LGBTQ right groups have exxpressed concern that Barret’s position on the Supreme Court may be harmful to their community due to views she’s expressed in the past.

On May 2, 2003, X2: X-Men United came out. Based on the Marvel Comics characters, the movie shows the mutant superhero team fighting against the U.S. government’s plot to exterminate them.

On Episode 2 of Reel on Real Issues, we explore if we can gleam any insights about the plight of the LGBTQ community by examining the plight of the mutants.

On Monday September 14, a federal appeals court ruled that the Trump administration had the right to terminate legal protections that allow hundreds of thousands of immigrants to live and work legally in the United States. This renders 400,000 immigrants, some of whom have been in America for decades, deportable.

On July 23, 1993, the movie Coneheads came out. Based on the beloved Saturday night Live sketch, the film follows a family of Space Aliens stranded on Earth who are forced to undergo the American immigrant experience.

On Episode 1 of Reel on Reel Issues, we explore what this 90s spoof of the immigrant experience can teach us about the current state of immigration in our country.
