First FLATHEAD of the Year!! Took awhile but, haven't been on the water much. That'll change soon!! This 54.5 lb Flathead bit on a Large Live Bait that I floated out to a logjam while bank fishing the Kansas River. Video is on Y T on my Catfish KC channel.

Olen from KC RodBenders and I had plans a couple weeks ago to do a guided catfishing trip on the Missouri River. The evening we planned to go there were thunderstorms until almost midnight. We went to Longview Lake instead and got on some Channel cats which was a lot of fun. We reconnected today to officially do the Missouri River trip and we had only planned to go out for an hour or two to check some bank lines with my 5 year old. Checking the bank lines were so much fun but,.... Since we were already out in the boat and an Asian carp jumped in the boat, we thought that was a sign maybe we should try fishing a couple spots. Olen had a couple spots in mind that he really wanted to try and never had, so we decided to fish for a little while before we left... The fresh bait carp that jumped in the boat I think made the decision for us to stay and fish 😂... But it was the funnest trip on the river I've had in a while and I got to spend it with my son and see him reel in a channel catfish and then one of the rods just got smacked, and I got to watch and assist a little bit at the very end my son catch a 58 lb blue catfish. Just thought I'd give you a little recap on my day especially since it was so much fun and we made memories that me and my son will never forget.
