A snow squall warning is in effect until 6:00 PM MST for US-2 near Apgar, MT and US-2 near Coram, MT and US-2 near Hungry Horse, MT and US-2 near Martin City, MT.

A *Snow Squall Warning* has been issued until 6pm for the US Highway 2 corridor from Badrock Canyon eastward towards Essex! Heavy snow, along strong winds, is leading to blowing and drifting snow, leading to dangerous travel conditions.

Concerning...Heavy rainfall...Flash flooding likely

SUMMARY...A narrow and focused band of heavy rain is expected to
result in a localized area of flash flooding for portions of
Shasta County in and around the Redding metro area. Peak hourly
rainfall of 1-2 inches will be possible with localized additional
totals of 3-5 inches through 02Z.

We got winter weather watches in blue, winter advisories in purple and winter storm warnings in pink. These are stretched across the country. Next week will look like this in much of the country from West to East.

We also have a flood watch in California in green.

As of right now this is the line where the snow belt will be and colder temperatures. It’s way too early to be talking about how much yet but this is just a heads up. I’ll be talking more about next weekend. Ain’t no sense in watching it every day change a thousand times. 😂 I’ll wait until the 72 hour window for better details. I just know we got hoodwinked by Winter and Spring. 😂

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for portions of central PA through 7am Monday. Snow and ice accumulations could lead to slippery roads this evening. Locally heavy snowfall is possible north of I-80 between 5-8pm this evening could lead to hazardous travel.

We are looking at another Arctic Blast and more snow for a very large area of the country Mid February. All that stuff hitting Hawaii and West Coast is headed our way. Even local Mets are already talking about this time. They usually don’t go this far out and talk about snow and cold temperatures but they are. Lock it in. It will be from the West to the Plains, Midwest and parts of the South, then towards the Eastern Sea Board. We will know more for sure next weekend. Just a heads up for now. Btw it always snows in Oklahoma during my father in law’s bday around the second week of February. This doesn’t surprise me at all.

A Mandatory Evacuation for the Bugbee area has been issued by Hutchinson County OEM via PBS Warn. Evacuees may go to the Celebration Church in Fritch located at 811 E Broadway St, Fritch, TX 79036, USA.

The fire is now 300 acres, per Texas A&M Forest Service. 1 air attack and 2 air tankers are overhead.

SUMMARY...Heavy rain will develop across north-central CA this
afternoon and especially tonight. Rainfall will be steady but with
hourly totals increasing to over 0.5 inches, especially for the
northern Sierra Nevada tonight. 12 hour totals of 3 to 6+ inches
can be expected for the northern Sierra Nevada with 1 to 3 inches
for the Coastal Ranges.

Several days of excessive rainfall are expected across northern CA as an atmospheric river continues through early next week. Three day precipitation of 4-7" (10-15" in the Sierra Nevada) could lead to flooding, mudslides, and debris flows, particularly in the Slight Risk area.

A significant winter storm is now pushing into western Wyoming. Persistent Pacific moisture will keep snow going through the weekend with heavy rates expected at times. This system will also bring gusty winds, leading to frequent blowing and drifting of snow.

Wow! I went back to see where it was on radar and sure enough it shows up. It was either a tornado or microburst but you can see where it touched down in Choctaw, Oklahoma.

Here is the HRRR radar loop for tomorrow and yes you are seeing that right. Monster supercells moving right through Okc Metro to Stillwater after 5 pm tomorrow. Very large hail, significant damaging winds and large violent long tracked tornadoes. This doesn’t look good for Central Oklahoma and Eastern Oklahoma. Then a significant damaging wind event up in Kansas and Missouri.

Cap explanation

Many of you ask about the CAP and what this means.. As we’ve told everyone many times everything has to come together in order for the forecast and models to be accurate. One missing ingredient can completely change the entire situation. It can go from a major outbreak to absolutely nothing. Or it can go from possible, maybe, to a full-blown outbreak if the right things form and happen. One of the big things is the CAP, it is a lid basically over a boiling pot of water to give you some kind of visualization. The steam or the thunderstorms cannot grow or expand if that lid contains everything inside the pot. It is an absolute must have for all these scenarios, as it doesn’t go, neither do the storms. When you remove the lid everything will either explode or expand, therefore your storms initiate. We created a small little visualization to help people understand the formal term and break it down a little bit. Once the cap completely erode today, and if it does, the severity will be completely up to the rest of the ingredients coming together but everything is there! Please be taking us seriously and please stay tuned as Nick will continuously break in an update current status and potential fiery of storms. —Kenna
