Scaling new heights on the Grandfather Mountain Trail 🗻⛰
This iconic trail in North Carolina’s Grandfather Mountain State Park served up some of the most breathtaking views I’ve ever witnessed. The 2.5+ mile hike to Macrae’s Peak (5845 feet) from the upper parking lot was challenging. Yet every grueling step was worth it for vistas like these.
From rocky outcroppings offering sweeping panoramas of the Blue Ridge Mountains stretched out before you, to lush spruce fir forests dispersed with wildflowers and blooming rhododendron, to the dramatic peaks that are part of the Appalachian range, some of the oldest peaks in the world - this trail was a scenic masterpiece.
Feeling equal parts exhilarated and humbled by the grandeur of nature all around. Can’t wait to conquer more of these mountain treasures! 📸
