Cold weather advisory issued.

NWS Norman issued our first ever Cold Weather Advisory! It runs from 9 PM tonight to 9 AM tomorrow. This replaced the Wind Chill Advisory this year in order to simplify alerts. Wind chills tonight into Monday morning will fall to as low as -5 to -10.

Dangerously low temperatures will be moving into OKC this weekend, starting on Sunday night and continuing into next week. Several shelters will open overflow beds during freezing temperatures to meet the community's need and ensure all of our neighbors have a safe place to get warm.

Please keep the following cold weather safety tips in mind:
⚠️ Wear Layers & Cover Extremities: Insulation can save lives. Use blankets, extra clothes, or other insulating materials to stay warm.
⚠️ Frostbite Risk: Signs include numbness, discoloration, and hard skin. Seek medical help immediately if symptoms appear.

Check on neighbors, share this information, and stay warm. Together, we can make sure everyone has access to a safe space to escape the dangerous cold.
