Band Leader, Rock 'n Roll Wizard, Lifelong Friend.... we sadly accept the passing of our brother, Robert "Bob" Ardrey on June 25, 2024. Often hilarious, ever the gentleman, always the voice of reason in a group of terminally adolescent middle-aged idiots; Bob will be sorely missed as we navigate our fates in this Strange and Wonderful World.

Speaking of which, a couple of things were in the works prior to Bob's death...

Finally, on July 13th the only full-length album by Whirling Dervishes, Strange and Wonderful will be reissued by West Westside Music on all streaming platforms, with 13 never released tracks.

In honor of Bob's memory on Sat. July 20, all original Whirling Dervishes will perform a full live set at The Break in Asbury Park. Virtuoso guitarist PK Lavengood is graciously sitting in to play Bob's parts. The show begins at 8:45pm sharp and will be followed by the pop-tastic KANAK.

We look forward to seeing old friends and sharing stories about Bob and the magical Jersey Shore alternative rock scene of the 80's and 90's.

Elizabeth "Libba" Cotten (née Nevills; January 5, 1893 – June 29, 1987)[1][2][3] was an influential American folk and blues musician. She was a self-taught left-handed guitarist who played a guitar strung for a right-handed player, but played it upside down.[4] This position meant that she would play the bass lines with her fingers and the melody with her thumb. Her signature alternating bass style has become known as "Cotten picking".
