We are celebrating African Heritage at the Oakland Temple Visitors’ Center on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

A light dinner will be served at 6:00 PM and the devotional will follow at 6:30 PM.

In addition to guest speaker, Sonny Parker, we will also learn about the rapid growth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout the continent of Africa, as well as learn about the exciting increase of family history information available at the FamilySearch Center on Temple Hill for those with ancestral roots in Africa.

You and your family are cordially invited to the 29th Annual Cambodian New Year Celebration on Temple Hill on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 4:00 pm. It’s a fun, FREE, family-friendly event open to everyone. We’ll have amazing cultural performances in the auditorium by the Oakland Khmer Angkor Dance Troupe, Morodok Khmer Performing Arts Stockton, Khmer Youth of Modesto, San Jose Cambodian Cultural Dance, and more!
After the performances, we’ll have a sample of delicious Cambodian food and desserts, a fun cultural game demonstration, live band music, and a lively dancing social in the big cultural hall right behind the auditorium stage.

U.S. Open Music Competition 33rd Annual Competition Schedule

February 17th to 22nd Daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Since 1992, The United States Open Music Competition has promoted the best of classical treasury among young musicians through their annual piano competition events and is committed to expanding the competition to include all aspects of classical repertoire in solo, duet, ensemble, and concerto events. The USOMC welcomes the public to view the competition free of charge.

The U.S. Open Music Competition and Prize Winners’ Concerts events will be from Monday, February 17 to Saturday, February 22, 2025 in the Temple Hill Auditorium. Everyone is invited to view the competition events (Monday from 9 AM to Friday 3 PM) as well as the Prize Winners’ Concerts—where the champions perform their pieces (Friday from 3:30 PM to Saturday 7 PM).

Jay Trottier conducts the Temple Hill Symphony Orchestra in some of his favorite pieces at 7:00 PM on March 8th and 9th, 2025 in the Oakland Temple Hill Auditorium. This epic concert features guest conductor Maestro Semyon Lohss, the Temple Hill Choir (led by Alan Chipman) and Solano Chamber Society Chorus (led by Lori Landin).

We are celebrating African Heritage at the Oakland Temple Visitors’ Center on Saturday, February 22, 2025, 6:30 p.m. Please join us for inspiring words and music focused on our Savior, Jesus Christ. Former Golden State Warrior, Sonny Parker will share the story of his journey of faith and trust in Christ. We will also learn about the rapid growth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout the continent of Africa, as well as learn about the exciting increase of family history information available at the FamilySearch Center on Temple Hill for those with ancestral roots in Africa. It’s sure to be a meaningful event for everyone!

This event is presented by the Oakland Temple Visitors' Center and the Bay Area Genesis Group. There will be a light dinner at 6 PM followed by the devotional at 6:30 PM.

BYU Ballroom is coming to perform in the Oakland Temple Hill Auditorium Saturday, March 1st at 7 PM and you won’t want to miss it! Brigham Young University’s Ballroom Dance Company is one of the most distinctive, unique and acclaimed university dance companies in the world. Their current show, Rhythm, delights spectators with compelling and creative choreography that seamlessly segues from romantic waltzes to rhythmical sambas and other unexpected surprises. Colorful costumes and innovative, theatrical design give traditional ballroom dances a refreshing, relevant and engaging flare. A hallmark of their show includes the performance of their award-winning and internationally acclaimed Ballroom and Latin competition medleys.

May I extend an invitation to you as you consider what your resolutions will be this year? I invite you to come to the temple as often as your circumstances allow.

In the house of the Lord, we focus on Jesus Christ. We learn of Him and His gospel. We make covenants that bind us to Him and to our Heavenly Father. Through these temple experiences and others, we are strengthened to achieve our New Year’s resolutions.

Come take a guided tour of Oakland Temple Hill with one of our friendly volunteers. On the tour, you’ll be guided through interactive displays, get an inside look at the history of the Oakland Temple, walk the grounds, and have an amazing experience with Thorvaldsen’s Christus. Our first class in a series, “Build Your Story” is being offered for the first time at the Oakland FamilySearch Center tomorrow, September 19th at 11:00 am. We’ll be meeting in the large classroom in the Oakland FamilySearch Center at 4766 Lincoln Avenue in Oakland and learning how to take your photos, newspaper clippings, memorabilia and documents to create a story that you can share for generations to come. The classes and workshops will run through December.
