From the Pacific Northwest’s Miss Trans USA, Beyoncé Black St. James.

To my: Trans Community

“We are the authors of our own lives our stories, our truths, our struggles, our strife
We are the ones who rise above the pain
Who shatter the glass, who break the chains.

We are the trans community, strong and proud
Our identities, our expressions, unbound
We will not be silenced, we will not be erased
Our voices, our faces, in every single place

We are the revolution, the change we seek
We are the ones who dare to speak
Our truths, our lives, our love, our light
Shining bright, in the dark of night

We will not be held back, we will not be tamed
Our spirits, our hearts, our souls, unashamed
We will rise, we will shine, we will thrive
As our authentic selves, alive

So let us stand together, united and strong
our trans community, where we all belong
Let us celebrate our lives, our love, our light
In all our beauty, in all our might.”

Bishop Mariann Budde was a little afraid. She watched President Trump proclaim his agenda from the inauguration stage. She felt called to add another element to her sermon: A plea for mercy, on behalf of everyone who is scared by the ways he has threatened to wield his power. “I had a feeling that there were people watching what was happening and wondering, Was anyone going to say anything?” she explained. “Was anyone going to say anything about the turn the country’s taking?” So, she took a breath, and spoke. Gene Roddenberry fought NBC over his multiracial crew in 1966, but there was one group he couldn't include - even though he desperately wanted to. The original Star Trek broke barriers with TV's first in*******al kiss and cast a Black woman as Lieutenant Uhura. But when it came to gay characters, that was one final frontier they couldn't cross.
'I would like to do that,' Roddenberry told George Takei. 'But I'm walking a tightrope.' Even after the controversial in*******al kiss, showing gay characters would have meant instant cancellation.
Roddenberry had to hide his progressive messages behind Kirk's conveniently-timed shirtless scenes just to distract network censors. The show was already pushing boundaries by telling stories 'that weren't being dramatized metaphorically on any other show.'
Looking back now, the lack of gay representation stings. But in showing a future where race and gender didn't matter, Roddenberry was playing the long game. Those three revolutionary seasons changed television forever - paving the way for a Star Trek universe where gay characters like Stamets, Culber, and Sulu could finally exist openly and proudly 🖖✨

Cary Grant - one of Hollywood's most charming leading men - spent his career playing the perfect ladies' man while living with actor Randolph Scott for 12 years in what was dubbed their "bachelor marriage." The two shared a beach house in Santa Monica, and their domestic arrangement raised eyebrows even in permissive Hollywood.
In "Bringing Up Baby," Grant delivered one of the first uses of the word "gay" in its modern context on screen, when, wearing a women's negligee, he exclaimed "I just went gay all of a sudden!" The moment, played for laughs in 1938, takes on new meaning given decades of speculation about his private life.
His roles often played with sexual ambiguity - from the gender-bending comedy of "Bringing Up Baby" to the sophisticated sexual politics of "The Philadelphia Story." Even as he married five times, questions about his sexuality persisted throughout his life and career.
Whether Grant was gay, bisexual, or straight ultimately matters less than how his sophisticated charm and willingness to challenge gender norms helped pave the way for more nuanced portrayals of masculinity in Hollywood.
