This morning I woke up sore and grateful. Yesterday was an eventful day. To say the past 10 months have been full of trials would be an understatement. I am so grateful both Gracie and I are alive and basically unharmed. The outcome could have been so much different.

We were stopped waiting for a light when I saw the truck heading straight for us. I laid on the horn but it made no difference. The man never even hit his brakes as he side swiped the car in front of me and then somehow drove up on the drivers side of my car in such a way that no airbags were deployed. The force of him hitting us slammed my car into the car behind us. I was unable to get out of my side of the car...mostly because a big old truck was sitting on top of it. I told Gracie to get out of the car because I could smell gas leaking and she and neighbors were able to pull me out of the car.

There were a total of 4 cars involved and I have no idea how many people I know they transported people to multiple hospitals in the area. But for the most part I believe everyone is OK. I do not know about the man who hit us. He had no idea where he was or what day it was. He either had a medical emergency or he was drunk. Time will tell.

I am so grateful for the number of people who came out from their houses or stopped their cars to helps us. To the man who literally helped me stand because I couldn't sit down because of all the glass in the back of my legs and cuts on my legs and feet. He literally stood and supported me until he had someone bring a cot with a mattress out for me to try to balance on. Note to self no more driving in a dress and sandals...steel toed boots and jeans only (I am joking...sort of)

We were incredibly fortunate. Gracie handled the situation like a champ. She was calm, cool and collected, did everything she was told. The first words out of her mouth were, "Are you Ok", not gonna lie once I got out of the car I went into a bit of shock.

Today is a new day, I am grateful to see the sunrise and know my family is safe. I'm gonna miss that car though.

OK Peeps we have a question for you! This year our Fall Retreat is a 1 day event. In 2025 would you rather us make it a 2-day event like the Christmas in July? How does Labor Day weekend sound? The Retreat would be Friday and Saturday, which would give everyone Sunday and Monday still off. Leave us a comment or two on what you think.
