If you are coming to OKI soon especially this weekend, put your patient pants on and come with VERY managed expectations. This isn’t the place you know and love currently. Traffic is WAY worse than summer traffic and as people return to work it’s going to get worse. With 211 being shut down between 906 and Long Beach Road the detour is to come on the new bridge and go off the Old Bridge to get to Southport. Everything is taking longer than normal. A lot of restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores are getting slower deliveries because most things come out of Wilmington and that’s a 2 hours drive currently with 17 being shut down. Trash is behind, who knows when we will get UPS, or Fed Ex at this point as we have been deemed not accessible. Know that the people waiting on you and checking you out at the store are leaving to come to work with damage to their own homes. They are driving routes that are double the normal time. Leaving kids at home who will be out of school for who knows how long at this point. There are still homes that don’t have sewer service and haven’t for a couple days. Behind that smile is a person who just made it through season and thought we could breathe and the BAM. Our day to day life is a at different than it was when we woke up three days ago. So we get it, your rentals are paid for. It’s a crappy situation all the way around. The sun is out and it’s a beautiful day please bring your beautiful attitude with you!!!
I can’t tell you how many people sent us this video. @drewroane has his own way with wood chairs that weigh about 25 pounds each uphill!!! No doubt 10 chairs 25 pounds is WAY more than his body weight. I will put my money on my “boys” any day of the week!!
Well, two years in a row we bought more inventory for the 4th and two years in a row we have sold out. We will not be taking anymore reservations for Thursday or Friday. If you see you set up team make sure you tell them thank you. They are working their tails off. We couldn’t do this without them. OKI thank you for the way you support us. We appreciate you.
❤️😍🥰 When our chair maker brought up the idea of white chairs your girl knew she had to have them. I saw the mesh chairs last spring in Hilton Head and knew they would be a game changer for us. No more wet chairs after a passing storm. No more sand to brush off and more airflow on a hot day. Most of all no more endless hours pressure washing and scrubbing white mineral sunscreen off of the navy fabric. I am neurotic about things looking clean. Our first set of chairs were light blue and the slushy drips that stained about did me in. The navy we thought would help but mineral sunscreen is a BEAST to get out of the fabric. The mesh seems like a win for everyone. We will start rotating more and more of these in as we recover our old chairs with mesh. Tell us what you think? Do you love the white!?!?
Did you know we started Quicksand because at the time we had three young kids (10,11 and 12) and we thought it would be a great little “side hustle” for them in a couple years. We bought 20 chairs and 10 umbrellas and thought that was a lot😂😂. It quickly took over our lives and 20 chairs seems like nothing. This week we have started to see our vision come to life. Our youngest who will be 13 next week has been begging to work with “the guys”. He has worked with Matt a few mornings but we haven’t put him in a truck with “the guys”. We never wanted it to slow them down or for him to be looked at as the “bosses kid”. But this week we found ourselves needing extra man power and Mathis rose to the occasion. He apparently worked hard enough last night @drewroane our manger treated him for ice cream for a job well done. This morning I heard his alarm go off at 5:30am. He got himself up, got ready and walked out the door to be picked up at 6:30am. We are not the best parents everyday but we do hope our kids see hard work and work ethic pays off. We hope we are building something that is something they can take over one day. It for sure isn’t a “little side hustle” anymore. Who knew what this would turn into sitting on the beach around a fire on 9th street one night! Actually, I did. When others thought we were crazy for renting beach chairs I saw the potential and I knew in my gut we could do it. It’s so fun to see the fruit of it starting to form.
It’s not often you get to see such a special event from beginning to end. Kimberly McNeil Noblett was among the first guests who booked with us when we launched four years ago. We have taken care of them every year since as their crew keeps growing. Her precious now husband called me a few months after the first trip and asked me to help him with a surprise proposal!! Between kids and life it took a while to get us full circle. But this week we had the amazing opportunity to plan their wedding and private chef dinner. It was so fun and such a special thing to be a tiny part of. We couldn’t be more honored or more excited for two of the nicest people. We love you guys and hope this is the start of so many great years ahead!!! I can’t wait to see grand babies added to the crew in a few years!! #thebestdaysareyettocome
Do your fur babies need some shade too? No worries just add an extra umbrella for them.
There is no greater compliment than guests who return year after year and you watch their babies grow up! This crew was literally among our first guests the first season. They plan an EPIC family trip every year. @callmemrswharton thank you for letting us play a small part of your vacation!!!
Go along with me for my favorite wellness treatment and meet OKI’s newest business @hopefull_wellness. I am so excited for Hopefull Wellness to launch its 5th location here on OKI! Owner and Nurse Practitioner Misty Regan was the catalyst in getting my health back on track fall after stress and being over 40 left my body a wreck. She is a direct care provider offering a ton of services including insanely affordable lab work and hormone replacement. Are you vacationing on OKI? Get a IV bag of vitamins after too much fun in the sun. Are you local? She is brilliant and her services are so affordable. Thanks to her hard work last fall and winter I am living my best life again and feel way younger than 42 most days.
When preparation meets opportunity ❤️. Cohlie requested a sons and somehow ended up singing with the band.
If you want a 10x10 (or two)this summer do not wait to make your reservation. These seem to be the hot commodity of summer.
