Welcome to New World Library’s page! We hope that you will find it informative, fun, and useful and that it will prove as valuable to you as our books, audios, and videos have been to people all over the world. Shakti Gawain and Marc Allen, New World Library’s owner and publisher, first began publishing booklets and audio cassettes in 1977 in a little slum apartment in Oakland, California. The kitchen was the office. The building was so old there was an icebox built into the wall — that became their first file cabinet. Marc typeset our first books in the closet. New World Library started very slowly. Sales for our first year were a whopping $800. Our second year sales were $3,000. At the end of our second year, we then published Shakti Gawain’s book CREATIVE VISUALIZATION. The entire company was Shakti and Marc, both working part-time. New World Library had no marketing department and didn’t send out review copies to the media. We just took CREATIVE VISUALIZATION to bookstores and then a few small distributors, and it started selling, by word of mouth. In the 1980’s, New World Library sold over 3 million copies in North America, and it was translated in 35 foreign editions as well. The book turned out to be in the forefront of a great spiritual and social movement that is still sweeping the world. In the nineties, our big bestseller was THE SEVEN SPIRITUAL LAWS OF SUCCESS by Deepak Chopra. That book, too, helped literally millions of people on their path to a better, more prosperous life. And over the last two decades, our biggest and best book has been THE POWER OF NOW by Eckhart Tolle. It has surpassed CREATIVE VISUALIZATION in copies sold, and is having a powerful impact around the world. It has helped literally millions of people to lighten their lives.
