Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Bridgton Police Department responded to Waterford Road and Depot Street in Harrison and found blood in the road after receiving numerous reports of people hearing “several gunshots and screaming in the area.”

Vincent M. Martin, 30, Waterford Road, Harrison, was arrested at his home hours after the alleged shooting at 7:38 a.m. Saturday morning.

We were saddened today to hear of Oxford Hill's mighty historian Ben Conant, a treasure of the community. Ben passed away Monday.

We had the pleasure of hearing him speak last week at Paris Cape Historical Society's monthly meeting.

Please share your memories and thoughts of Ben. We will include as many as possible in a newspaper tribute publishing next Thursday.

Rest in peace Ben. It was a pleasure to know you.
