The South Central Schools Marching band performs its Billy Joel light show tribute at the ninth annual South Central Parade of Bands in Greenwich Saturday night. A total of 10 schools performed, including St. Paul, Western Reserve and Willard.
For the first time in 30-plus years, Monroeville High School hosted a track and field meet on Saturday following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new facility at 89 N. Ridge St. (Ohio 99).

Tied at 36 and inbounding with 3.6 seconds left, Norwalk junior Mason Gamble called "game' against Huron. The Truckers (8-4) trailed Huron by 15 points midway through the third quarter, but rallied for the win to cap a weekend with two victories in under 20 hours.

Monroeville state runners-up
The Division IV state runners-up trophy for Monroeville volleyball. A deserved keepsake to display at the Monroeville Athletic Complex back home after five trips to Wright State University since 2015.
John Livengood proclamation
City of Norwalk Mayor Dave Light read and presented a proclamation on Wednesday to recognize St. Paul head football coach John Livengood for his 300th win at the school. Along with several school officials, Light was joined by Safety-Service Director Mike White and Superintendent of General Services, Daren Smith, who started for the Flyers on Livengood's state championship team in 2009.

St. Paul head football coach John Livengood has won his 300th game, becoming the 17th coach in Ohio history to reach the milestone. Livengood is 300-80 in his 32nd year at the school. He has 21 Firelands Conference titles, 8 regional titles, 4 state runners-ups and one state championship. Of the 300-game winners, his .789 winning percentage ranks third. The Flyers (6-2) won a 60-52 shootout at Edon.

The Lions Club Fourth of July parade is underway in the City of Norwalk. Happy Independence Day to all!
Sean Tyler funeral procession
The funeral procession for Sean Tyler from St. Paul Catholic Church included nearly 30 emergency vehicles from 14 different communities Tuesday morning. Tyler, 37, was a 2003 St. Paul graduate who spent 12 years as a firefighter in Tiffin. He died in the line of duty from occupation-related cancer on June 20.
Guardians' hot dog race at the library
To kick off its summer reading program, the Norwalk Public Library held the "Race on Case" as the three hot dog mascots from the Cleveland Guardians performed one of their popular races usually contested at the end of the fifth inning of every home game at Progressive Field. The mascots interacted with the crowd of over 225 people before and after the race, including helping children pick out their favorite books inside the library.
