Clue #5. Sunday, September 1st, 2024

Wayne Eddy, our friend, rode so proud and free.

He traveled to the Great Lakes but avoided floodway AE.

Years rolled like a Creek, just don’t go past the V.

Wayne knew it was time to let go and walk the path complete.

He hung his hat in the Hall, and laid down his reins.

But searching on the ground gave his trousers stains.

In the town of Northfield, where the Prairies meet the sky.

He found a jackpot in the meadows, his legacy won’t hide.

This past Wednesday, Rice County area first responders gathered together in North Alexander Park in Faribault to raise money for the HOPE Center. The Northfield Police and Northfield Fire joined together as a team to compete against the MN Corrections team and the Faribault Police and Fire. Here are some pictures from the event.

The chance for severe weather has increased this evening around dinner time...

12:45 p.m. UPDATE: The National Weather Service has raised our severe weather potential to an ELEVATED risk (3 out of 5 on a scale) for the line of thunderstorms tonight.

Primary threats are damaging winds and an isolated tornado. Large hail is also a possibility, but less of a threat.

Initiation is continuing to be on point at 6 p.m., maybe just a little later than the last model runs.

KYMN will post the first clue to the DJJD Horseshoe Hunt this morning at 7am. But first, here is a message from the cluemaster, Tim Freeland.

Horseshoe Hunters,

Today is the funeral of Wayne Eddy. His name needs no introduction in these parts. I worked at KYMN with Wayne, was on the Defeat of Jesse James Committee with him and joined the family of raid reenactors that Wayne was part of for 25 years. I grew up trying to decipher his clues in the 80’s when he’d run a similar contest through the radio station. His hunts piqued my interest in this type of event. So, as life would have it, here we are starting a Northfield “hunt” on the day Wayne is laid into Northfield Cemetery. It’s almost poetic. It’s so “Wayne”. Wayne absolutely loved life’s little coincidences. So thank you Wayne for your incredible life of service to this town. This hunt is my dedication to you.
