I think I might start looking into this also, along with a bunch of released documents from the US. I have the full released doc that I am reading through now on Bouvet Island.

This released Document comes from the US Army Research Office it was received on Mar 13, 2001

Maybe I'm late to the party but it is always good to have a refresher in hand. Most people have no clue what was going on here and what caused the anomaly.

Bouvet is now an uninhabited island and dependency of Norway. It is a protected nature reserve and research site. It is a subantarctic volcanic island, situated in the South Atlantic Ocean at the southern end of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, and is the world's most remote island.

Update: The judge came out and said that the purchase is not going through yet because it was not an auction type of sale. They had a bigger bidder than who bought it. It is a mess right now.
