Glenbrook North High School senior Sarah Glass celebrated her 18th birthday on March 26. Her mother, Susan, had arranged for dozens of Sarah’s friends to line up their cars near the Glass house at 12:20 p.m. and then parade past.

Molly Hamer, Northbrook Park District executive director, said it has gotten to the point where there are frequent gatherings at parks that are often bigger than a group of 10. She added that people are going on playground equipment on a regular basis, even though playgrounds are closed per the governor’s order.

“Our local police force is struggling to enforce things without additional signage,” Hamer said.

With Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s shelter-in-place order in effect through April 7, the Northbrook Park Board held its Wednesday, March 25 meeting via conference call instead of in-person.
