Wilkes County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for students tomorrow, Tuesday, January 7.

This will allow us extra time to assess road conditions. Should conditions be worse than anticipated, you will be contacted just after 7:00 am with an update. At that point, tomorrow would become a Remote Learning Day.

Thank you for your understanding as we try to keep you informed while ensuring the safety of students and staff.

UPDATE: A second wreck has occurred near the North Wilkesboro Speedway on 421 Southbound. 10:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Emergency services are on the scene of a wreck on highway 421 in the Roaring River area near exit 277. Both southbound lanes are reportedly blocked as of 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
