Welcome to the first edition of our "Commercial Development Spotlight," where we highlight key projects shaping North Port's future!
Our ongoing development efforts are bringing local jobs to our workforce, strengthening our city's tax base and enhancing the quality of life for our residents.
Here are some highlights:
🚧 Permitting Phase:
🔹 Sarasota Memorial Hospital (SMH) plans a 15,000 sq. ft. emergency care facility in Wellen Park, with potential for a 300,000 sq. ft., 150-bed acute-care hospital. 🏥 At Sumter Blvd & I-75: SMH is planning for a 350,000 sq. ft. hospital with 200 acute care beds, 35-bed emergency department, and a 24-bed observational unit.
🚀 Under Construction:
🔹 Heron Creek Place, Phase II: Over nine acres of commercial frontage along Sumter Blvd.
🔹 Acadia Behavioral Health: 144-bed hospital on East Price Blvd, opening later this year. 🏨
🔹 North Port Business Park, Phase II: 535,800 sq. ft. of flex warehouse and light industrial space on Toledo Blade Blvd & I-75.
🔹 Wellen Park: 11,300 sq. ft. free-standing emergency room by HCA Florida Englewood, opening spring 2025. 🏗️
🔹 Cocoplum: Adding a 5,031 sq. ft. Bath & Body Works on U.S. 41.
📈 Permitting Numbers so far in FY 2023-24:
🔹 Residential Permits: 1,622
🔹 Commercial Permits: 40
