Michael Freiwald - born in 1956 in the age of Rock n Roll, Michael grew up in postwar Germany straight into the golden age of youth culture, got infected by music at an early stage, listening to early 60s Rock n Roll on the radio. The first record he ever got was "Wild Thing“ by the Troggs. Michael began studies of Design in 1976, right in time when punk entered the stage, witnessed „neue deutsche Welle“ at Ratinger Hof in Düsseldorf, a venue highly regarded as the CBGBs of Germany. When entering Churchill’s incidentally in 2013 while on vacation in Miami, Michael instantly fell in love with the place. Recognizing the immense value Churchill’s has for the small but vital music scene, Michael, immediately conceived a peculiar desire to give this place and its scene something in return. Being interested in people and music alike, Churchill’s gave Michael a perfect topic for playing around with brushes and colors.
But quite frankly, Michael is just enjoying himself to draw - “not giving a s**t if my style fits any expectations or is the proper way to cover punk.“
