ACHES AND PAINS FORECAST... Back by popular demand, here is this week’s aches and pains forecast, based on changes in barometric pressure.

A quick clarification: this graphic is not about high pressure versus low pressure. The yellow line shows pressure trends, and what tends to matter most is how fast pressure is changing, not the actual pressure value.

Here are some details for this week:

Sinus pressure:
With pressure rising and falling at times this week, sinus pressure may be an issue for some people on and off through much of the week, especially during the bigger swings.

Arthritis and general aches and pains:
Aches and joint pain are often more noticeable during rapid pressure changes. Tuesday looks like the most likely time for increased aches and pains, with a lower, moderate chance returning late in the week and into the weekend.

Migraines:
Migraines are often triggered by rapid weather changes, not necessarily storms. The highest risk appears to be through Tuesday, with lower risk during the second half of the week as pressure becomes more stable.

Everyone reacts differently. This is a look at general patterns, not a medical forecast.

This is still a.work on progress. Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Here's an updated look at conditions around the area for this afternoon. Current conditions are as of 11:35 am on 12-29-2025.

Roads are improving around the area, most of the no travel advisories have been lifted. There is still a small section across northern Iowa where no travel is advised.

If you are heading out on the roads, it is advised to continue using caution as roads are still partially to completely snow covered and slick. There is still a good breeze causing some blowing snow, continuing to reduce visibility around the area.

To help with the "snow blindness," it is recommended to wear sunglasses while you are out and about. This will help with glares and preventing sun blindness, especially with the bright/fresh snow on the ground.

Temperatures are going to continue hovering in the single digits through today and tonight. With winds projected to remain breezy through most of this afternoon, wind chill values will remain below zero today and tonight, even once the winds calm down.

Tomorrow we are looking at slightly warmer temperatures by the afternoon hours with much lighter winds. However, clouds will be returning as our next round of snow moves closer to the area.

This brings us to Wednesday! Wednesday morning and early afternoon we are currently looking at our next round of snow. Thankfully, as of the current forecast, we are looking at very light snow with light winds. This means it's looking to be a quick and more peaceful snow. Slick roads will still be a possibility in general, but we shouldn't see blizzard like conditions (winds are projected to be light up to 15 mph throughout Wednesday morning and afternoon).

MORE SNOW WEDNESDAY (LIGHT SNOW THIS TIME)... Just a quick heads up that we are expecting a little more light snow across Minnesota, northeastern South Dakota, eastern North Dakota and Wisconsin late Tuesday night through Wednesday. Most places on this map will get a half inch or less, but in the light blue area there could be a couple pockets of up to an inch.

It’s not going to be windy, blowing snow won't be an issue. This isn't going to be a big deal, but could lead to some scattered slick spots. I’ll have more on this later today. Stay tuned!
