We are excited to announce that Rhode Island Fast Ferry's Offshore Wind division Atlantic Wind Transfers has secured its second long-term Operations & Maintenance offshore wind CTV contract for Dominion Energy. Our current new-build Chartwell Marine Ltd designed vessel under construction at Blount Boats, Inc. will go directly into service later this year to support the Siemens Gamesa offshore wind turbines for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Project.

This is a great achievement for our company as we will now be servicing both offshore wind farms in the U.S. This accomplishment has been made possible by the efforts of our entire team; from the willingness of our marine crews' dedication and safety to the experience they have gained each and every day transferring offshore. In addition, our management has worked countless hours to learn and improve our operation so that we can provide our clients with a reliable, experienced and most importantly a safe CTV operation. Thank you Dominion Energy for this opportunity, we look forward to working with you and Siemens Gamesa soon.

During the last 5 years Interstate Navigation has been telling the Town of New Shoreham and the PUC there is no demand for additional fast ferry service while fighting our proposed Quonset to Block Island service. All the while they have been planning this new fast ferry for the past 2-years. This big new ferry will be displacing local fisherman in the Port of Galilee by taking up more dock space.

The Block Island Ferry is seeking approval for a new boat that could carry 500 passengers.

Brave Tern Installation Barge and Atlantic Pioneer Crew Transfer Vessel on Foundation #1

Nacelle is on!

08/03/2016

The 433-foot Jack-up Wind Farm Installation Vessel "Brave Tern" arrived in Newport on Sunday to clear customs, undergo USCG Inspections and take on fuel. Our Crew Transfer Vessel Atlantic Pioneer transported the switch out crews and loaded on food stores via 10 ft. containers. The Brave Tern sailed 2 weeks across the Atlantic Ocean from France carrying the 5 Nacelle's which house the generating components of the offshore wind turbines. This vessel is truly a sight to see, it houses a crew of 80, has a crane capacity of 800 tons and can jack up to 480 feet above sea level. If you can get out to Block Island in the coming weeks you can catch a glimpse her working off the Southeast Lighthouse. This will be the only time in history you will ever see an offshore wind farm under construction from land since all others proposed in the future will not be visible from land. Deepwater Wind

“There’s no vessel like this in the United States. It’s one of a kind right now. What’s great about the project is it’s a Rhode Island wind farm developer; it’s a Rhode Island boat builder and a Rhode Island operator.
