Yesterday, these three beautiful women walked for my mom. My mom's former hospice team/family did the hope walk to honor my mom and get the word out about her cards (don't worry, the cards are still coming).
These women have done more for my mom and family than can be expressed. They were a huge inspiration to my mom when she was creating her cards. She referred to them as her "earth angels" for all the love, comfort, friendship, and joy they brought to her. All three of them continue to be family to my dad and I, and we will be forever grateful.

The cards are finished.

The Wings of Love oracle deck made for terminal patients has my mom's heart and soul in every card. The first round of prints were delivered this weekend, and I know my mom is so proud.
The cards will be available soon, but please be patient with us as we pick up the pieces while mourning my mom.

On Sunday March 19th, Tara, my mom and the founder of Wings of Love, passed away in her sleep after her long battle with cancer. She was at home with her family and devoted hospice team. To say she will be missed is the biggest understatement in the world. She brought so much joy, wisdom, kindness, grace and strength to this world and to everyone she met. We will continue to spread her message through Wings of Love and beyond.

There is a special kind of
person in this world who is
often misunderstood.

These people tend to be the
loners, the free spirits,
the innocent lovers.

They see the world for all
they can, and should be,
although the world rarely
sees them.

They are the old souls, the
dreamers, the people in
tune with life, so intuitive
of emotions that they can
frighten us.

They frighten us not because
of who they are, but because of
who we are not, what we lack.

Ancient souls reach depths
we cannot understand.

They have a connection with God,
with the Universe, with Nature,
and that's why they are the people
who will change the world.

We often feel inferior,
as if we have to strive to stay
remotely close to their level,
to be worthy of their love.

It takes a confident person
to love an old soul.
But it's worth it.
It will change your life.

They are romantic, they are loyal,
they help us grow, they are not
materialistic, they understand
the deep connections in life.

They are grateful, they are
examples of bravery.

They walk the most painful roads
of this life, and yet somehow they
find the courage to smile, often
selfless. Supporting others.

Loving an old soul and being loved
by one is a gift from Heaven.

There is a labor to dying. It is hard work for us to get out of our body (some harder than others). Think of the little chick that works, struggles to get out of its shell. As we, humans, are dying we are working, struggling also to get out of our bodies. We, the watchers, see the hard work and don't know how to interpret it. As someone who has seen a lot of dying moments I see that struggle as often intense and unexplainable.

I don't think anything bad is happening. Those facial expressions and movements can be ugly and disconcerting but you were witnessing the final release, the final attachment to the physical being let go. I can only say from having been at the bedside of hundreds of people that disconcerting faces are not unusual. I describe it in my booklet Gone From My Sight or my book The Final Act of Living as a grimace or a frown. More detailed descriptions of faces I've seen could be a silent scream, or facial distortions that a Hollywood producer could use in a horror film.

The other side is I have seen smiles, beautiful, peaceful faces. What I learned from seeing all the various moments of death is it doesn't matter what they look like or why. What we are watching is a struggle to end this life connection, to get out of our physical shell. It's like childbirth in reverse. For some the baby just pops out, for other's, mom has to scream and push for hours. I assure you nothing bad or evil or even unusual is happening when grimaces occur.

A Star Moth or, as I like to call it, a God Wink.

A God Wink, to me, is like an "atta girl" (or atta boy or atta they) of the highest level. A spiritual signpost telling you you're moving in the right direction.

This little God Wink came about after pondering the Rosy Maple Moth I created some months ago as a personification of our exchange daughter's daughter. I had only met her via videochat but still... Could I find a similar looking moth, definitely related but still its own creature? A winged relative like a.... mama moth?

I nearly fell off my chair when I read the Google results: meet Star Moth, mama to Rosy Maple Moth -- a God wink if there ever was one and available soon as a sticker for donation.

I like to believe that we are meant to experience life's joys daily; that God wants us to experience all the feelings -- even if means laughing as we cry.
