Mike has a new album out on Bandcamp.com, check it out it’s called “Kvidera Covers The Classics”, and it features cover tunes like, “Dumb Ways To Die”, “Against All Odds”, “Take Me Back”, and the first single from the album, a haunting cover of Nirvana’s cover of “Where Did You Sleep Last Night”.

Back in the fall of 2000, Kvidmusic released the live CD, “Tequila Rose. Down By The Riverside.” The tracks were recorded over a two night gig the band had at the now demolished Riverside Inn on June 9th and 10th. The CD, now unfortunately, out of print, will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year. Tentative long range plans might have an expanded, 2-CD set come out next year with one CD featuring songs played on June 9th and the other one from June 10th.

From January of 2000 to January of 2003, Mike Kvidera was the bassist in a band called Tequila Rose. A well established band that played gigs in southeast Minnesota, southwest Wisconsin, and northeastern Iowa. Tonight, Mike began the task of going through live recordings over the years he played with the band to put together a retrospective CD of some of the best performances.

Some “psychedelic” things going on at the studio….

“Let me explain a little bit about the song I wrote in high school called “The Ballad of Rick and Mike”. I was a junior in high school when I started writing this song. One look at the lyric sheet, and it’s just a bunch of random thoughts kinda thrown together to complete the song. Mentally, I had a lot of things going though my mind, and it was kinda spilt out on paper. Love, confusion, guilt, shyness…. The original title was thought to be “What Is Love?, but when I shown the song to my friend Rick, he exclaimed, “That sounds like just like ME!!!” And that’s where the title came from..

The mad wizard has been recording the basic tracks, the first since moving, on an old original song written back in 1994. The song is called “The Ballad of Rick and Mike”, and the results so far sound sa-weet!!

Spent this afternoon labeling the tracks on the digital recorder… what instrument is on what track. This way it will be easier when we work on mixing the new Paychedelic Underachiever tracks or adding to them. This particular song, is from a cover tune I’m working on, called “Trick Of The Light”. A John Entwistle/Who song.

New pedal bought for use in the studio. The Electri-Harmonix Small Clone chorus pedal… the same pedal that Kurt Cobain used for that distinct sound on “Nevermind” and during live shows. Had some fun playing some Nirvana tunes this afternoon.
