The 3rd Annual Illinois Basin Celebration (Oilfield Appreciation Day) will be held on Friday, Oct. 11, at the 404 Seed Station in Carmi. All Illinois Basin oil exploration and production industry professionals are invited to this event, which will feature a free catered lunch, a presentation by WSEI Radio on-air personality Mark Weiler, and complimentary Illinois Basin Proud hats, flags, T-shirts and stickers. For your viewing pleasure...Look for the first of 4 "super" moons this fall. The moon will look full when it rises at 7:26 Sunday night, but is officially full on Monday when it rises at 8. The moon is near the closest point in its orbit around earth, so it will look a bit larger and brighter, hence the "super" name. It's also a "blue" moon because it is the third of 4 full moons this season.
