As many know, David Bowie had an enormous impact on me as an artist. His fearlessness, his curiosity, and the way he continually pushed against whatever he’d done before shaped a great deal of how I came to think about making music.
And, of course, Tony Visconti is such an enormous part of that story. The sound of those records—the drums, the rooms, the space around everything—is simply embedded in me.
So yeah… having Tony Visconti’s drums inside my DAW is pretty damn incredible.
Toontrack has captured something here that immediately feels familiar without feeling like you’re simply trying to recreate the past. I can already hear where these sounds are going to live in my own music.
