“I think he's the best quarterback in 5A football,” said George. “Nothing fazes him. He's always calm. He's not too high, too low. He just says, ‘put the ball in my hands, coach. Let me go out and make plays.’”

“I think we can put it behind us and we’ve really stressed our fits these last two weeks — where we’re supposed to be fitting in the run game and really stressing during that bye week working on just tackling — back to the basics, wrapping up and tackling,” George said. “We’ve got to do a better job of that. We know if we want to be successful we can’t have the performance we had the other night on defense.”

NOBLE — Noble head coach Greg George didn’t leave any doubts about how he felt his defense played in its last outing against Tuttle.

Congrats to McAdoo. He really was an outstanding back. Fully suspect him to play in a couple more championships before his time is up with the Tigers.

41 Points, the most scored against Tuttle since playoffs 2017 when Heritage Hall beat Tuttle 55-21, and the most points coach Brad Ballard has given up in the regular season since his first season at Tuttle in 2014. However, Noble has no answer for Tuttles pounding ground game.

It was a dynamic night for two of Tuttles backs, and a good night for Nobles receiver Brandon Harper. Senior reciever LT Taylor did not play, injury. Trevor Rudd stepped up in his absence in a huge way to have some nice catches and a score of his own. Logan Kirby also had a great night with probably his most impressive play coming from his foot, a flip of the field on a 50 yard punt that helped set up a 2nd half touchdown for the Bears.

Noble with an off week in week 3 will have some time to get healthy and gear up for district play in two weeks.

“We have all of the respect in the world for Tuttle,” said George. “We watched them in the playoffs many times. Coach Ballard does a great job. They won a state championship back in ‘18 and played in one last year. Tuttle’s a football town… I think it’ll be a great game for both teams. and we’ll have a great crowd and I think it’ll be a fun night and be a great challenge for our kids. We’re excited.”

In both of its victories this season, Noble has found different ways to win.

Noble at Tuttle this Friday 7PM. Bears look to close out the non district slate 3-0 before the off week. However, it will be no easy task against the tradition rich Tigers. Tuttle looks to get a big win and gain momentum with a win over a team in a higher class.

Tuttle coach Brad Ballard has coached the Tigers since 2014, and has compiled an 83-17 record. Coach Greg George has been the leader in command at Noble for the same number of years and holds a 53-36 record.

Tigers ranked #1 in class 4A.
Bears ranked #9 in class 5A.

Notes:

-Tuttle never allowed a team to score more than 13 points last season until the semi-final game versus Poteau when they won 28-21. However, the Tigers went on to get shutout by Clinton in the 4A Championship.

-Tuttle had some extra time to prepare for Noble. With zero week now an option for every team, Over half have taken advantage in the last couple years. Tuttle had an off week last week in week 1, but defeated Cashion in the zero week. Noble took advantage of the extra week for the first time this season but chose to use their off week before the opening of district play and facing the Ardmore Tigers in week 4.

-Game is picked as one of the top 10 games in the state this week by newsok.com.

-We here at Bear Blitz have been wanting to see this game for decades! Growing up in Noble was great, but all my cousins were Tigers, and every year they talked about how great their teams were and how deep the playoff run would be this season or the next! We would love nothing more than a big win for the Bears. My Grandpa never missed a game at Bill Hinkle field. My grandmother was homecoming Queen 1953!

Noble improves to 2-0 ahead of a showdown with the number 1 ranked Tuttle Tigers out of 4A next Friday at Bill Hinkle Field to wrap up non-district play. A weekend off in week 3 will ensure the Bears are rested for a home showdown with the Ardmore Tigers to open district play September 23rd.

The clock ran down at the end of the homecoming game and spectators stormed the football field, knocking over members of the high school band — all to gather around an assistant coach as he took a knee in prayer, surrounded by uniformed players.

“They’re Guthrie, they’re going to run and play power football,” George said. “They’ve also got a quarterback that can run it and throw. They’ve got good skill kids on the outside that can go down the field and catch it.”

The Noble Bears ended their regular season with a 6-1 conference record and a three-way tie for first in District 5A-1.

One of the things that has made the Noble offense so explosive this season is the number of weapons it can put on the field.
