Nichols Hills resident, Melanie Burns, shares the story behind her dedication to Mitchell’s Shade, a cause that seeks to honor her son’s memory while bringing shade and solace to the community he cherished. Melanie’s inspiration stem’s from her late son Mitchell and his deep-rooted love for shade trees and parks.

Mitchell’s Shade is an annual partnership with Scissortail Park to provide trees free of charge to the community, creating a permanent way to commemorate a loved one, celebrate a milestone, or to simply pick up a free tree to provide some much needed shade.
