𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐝

I had an 80-foot-tall pine tree that grew frighteningly tall year after year and was only 10 feet from my house. The trunk was 30” in diameter and 95” in circumference. I loved this magnificent pine, but the time had come when it had to go before it picked the correct wind to fall into my house!
I chose Luke Rieger to bring it down. Luke has been in the landscape industry since he was a teenager. “I began by caring for plants, then did hardscapes, fountains, garden walls, and patios. My company asked me if I wanted to learn how to trim and remove trees; I said ‘yes,’ and the game of life was on!" he shared. When he and wife, Aimee, and their three daughters moved permanently to Destin, Luke Rieger Tree Service LLC was formed in 2018.

The monstrous tree had to fall back across Kelly Plantation property, so HOA approval was mandatory. Once that was done, take-down day arrived. Luke had two other crew members, Ben Otto and Dan Brown, assist him. Using equipment and gear such as metal spurs that dig into the tree, Luke did all the climbing. From the top, he took off each limb and carefully lowered them down one by one. Getting all those limbs off and down was day one. On day two, the BIG tree came down.

Luke arrived the second day with precision cutting techniques and exact measurements of where he wanted this two-ton tree to fall. There were no second chances here. As the tree began to fall, there was a quiet whisper as it cut through the air on its descent. Almost immediately, a crescendo of the earth trembling followed with the cacophony of this final fall. The tree landed within three inches of my neighbor's pampas grass! Job well done!

Old-Fashioned Love Song
Start February off with this yummy cocktail!

Ingredients
2 oz. Bourbon or rye whiskey
¾ oz. crème de cacao
½ oz. simple syrup
Chocolate bitters

Add all ingredients to a glass with ice.
Stir with a bar spoon, until drink is chilled (about 20 times).
Garnish with an orange twist and a cocktail cherry, and serve!
