The idea behind our name has to do with all the group being active in pursuing our roles in the workplace of the economic system here in the USA, while in the mean time we dedicate ourselves to the practice of our real life as great songwriters.
EOJ gives us an organization to provide an outlet for musical expression. The artists have a rich history of making songs. The 4 acts currently in the EOJ catalog, 7th MOD Dog Trio, Mackian Paradigm, the Mod Vibes, and the Dog 5 Trio are available for digital download from CD Baby, Amazon, Apple itunes and several songs can he heard on You Tube, Spotify, and Google Play to name a few.
The company’s most recent release “Mod Psychedelic Bubblegum” by 7th MOD Dog Trio is a cohesive collection of songs that belies the heavy influence of the mid to late ‘60s. Originally entitled suitable for ‘68. A year in Rock history noteworthy for the influences of Mod Psychedelic Bubblegum.
The group is comprised of members of 3 different bands, formed as a vehicle to showcase the lyrics of Rich Kumm. Each member of the band was a huge part of the creative process. The motto is: We Need More Cool New Music with roots in the roots, of “our generation.” The group was inspired and raised in that era and hopes that our compadres will gravitiate toward our groove. We also think we offer younger listeners a modern insight into the development of song construction interacting with the message that has meaning beyond the obvious. We hope that our listeners will find a place in their minds to hold some of these songs, as a seed for thought and contemplation.
Even More Contemplative, The Mackian Paradigm sets out from the start to operate within the confines of music while experimenting with the forms and structures. The setting is that of JAZZ. Some may say a “jam” band. Typically, the group assembles and a riff is introduced that is then “comped” upon by the cats circled arounded a couple of “pretty damn good” microphones. Creativity is encouraged. A weekend in the studio may well produce 12 hours of laborious excursions of drums and guitars with a banjo, kitchen utensiles, a bell, a keyboard, washboard, a bongo or two and more guitars, tamborines, steel guitar, accordian, a human voice, a squeeky door etc. and of course a violin which we tend to call a fiddle!
Some of the songs are right off the facotry floor but others are crafted by the musical sensibilites of Martin A. Christiansen and massaged into sonic clarity by the able hands of our master sound engineer, the unintimatable Earle of Pleasant Tree.
Mod Vibes have 2 singles on line and a whole album to download at CD Baby. This is a group that formed near Wilson NY in the mid and again in the late 1990s. Featuring song writers Dave Evans and Brian Roberts and also Rich Kumm. Chiem Secor on drums (incredible) and at a time the high energy of Leonard Mann on bass.
Dog 5 Trio includes Jon Ryczek, Dave Kline, and Brian Taylor. Rich Kumm wrote lyrics and recorded the vocals. Playing many popular garages around Buffalo and Western New York in the Early 21st century. They presented a dynamic stage show featuring the addition of Rick Miami. Dog 5 Trio or as we sometimes call them D5t has a nice set of songs on CD Baby for digital download. The “Doggiest of then All” taking fan favorites from a variety of recordings but most notably from “Stray Dogma” and “the 2 sided black and white album.” CD copies of which may still be found in bins at your local thrift or record exchange store.
There is also finally a newly formed group preparing a “Live Show” for public preformance. Known as MOD VIBE IV. Frontman and singer Rich Kumm has teamed up with former Mod Vibes guiarist extordinaire Brian Roberts and Brian Taylor the rock steady back bone beat of the Dog 5 Trio on drums along with Mark Kam on the bass. The group plays covers and originals that they like in the way that they like and they can do that because they know you will like them too.
We humbly invite you all to listen to our songs and like and share, dance and sing along when you can. Especially, when the MOD VIBE IV plays in a town near you. (And perhaps other musical friends may be joining them on stage increding members of the Mackian Paradigm)
WE ARE BUILDING A CULTURE OF MUSIC AND CREATIVITY.
