Breeding and laying tubs work great for monitoring and laying eggs, but we prefer to have our animals in as much of a natural setup as possible.
After our girls lay, they get moved to these spaces to give them a break and allow them to put healthy weight back on after the stresses of breeding and laying.

Who says reptiles don’t have personalities?!?
Our red-foots and Hermann’s certainly look forward to seeing us (mainly because we bring them food 😆).
Hey, it’s still a positive relationship 🤷🏻♀️ I also like people who bring me snacks!

Amazing how much they grow in 1 year! ♥️
The larger one hatched March 2023 and the little guy hatched just last week!
Tortoise breeding is a slow game but sooooo worth it! Each tortoise that we hatch and sell, is one less tortoise taken from the wild! Support local, captive bred reptiles!

There are many health and welfare benefits to feeding frozen thawed prey items to snakes and other reptiles.
Welcome to my Ted talk…
Risks to your animals. Rodents will fight back and if your snake isn’t in the eating mood, this can cause serious injury to your snake. It’s so much safer for your snake to eat frozen thawed.
Risk of parasites. Rodents can carry diseases that would normally be killed in the process of euthanizing and freezing of frozen prey. Feeding live increases the chance for parasite transmission to your snake.
I’m going to start a war but, the prey items welfare. Feeder prey items (mice, rats, quail, chicks) are bred for animal consumption. They are humanely euthanized and packaged and frozen to preserve the quality of the food.
“But my snake will only eat live.” There are tricks to getting them to take frozen thawed. Some individuals and species may be trickier, but it’s still possible.
Try soaking the rodent in warm water or warm chicken broth. The use of feed tongs to move the food item around can also help.
It may take some time but it’s 100% worth it in the end for the safety and health of your pets!

Are you looking to add a reptile to your animal collection?
Here’s a couple things to consider:
1️⃣ Size: how big will the animal get once full size? Do you have the space to adequately house them as an adult? They’re all super cute as little babies, but remember, most species can get quite large.
2️⃣ Temperature and Humidity requirements: do your research and see where they live in the wild. If you plan to keep them in your room that stays cold in the winter, you may need to reconsider the species or location on their enclosure.
3️⃣ Diet: what do they need to eat and how often? Cost of the food? Many reptiles will eat a varied diet (bugs or greens or pellets or frozen thawed prey). Again, do your research
4️⃣ Lifespan: most reptiles have a long lifespan. So be prepared on living with them for their entire life. Some can even outlive you so make plans for them in that scenario as well.
5️⃣ Lighting: just about every species will need UVB and more than likely a heat source. Make sure they are given the right lighting and basking so they can thrive. Without proper UVB, reptiles are prone to metabolic bone disease. Again, do your research.
6️⃣ where are you getting the animal from? Just because you have the ability to get a certain species, doesn’t mean you should. Really do your research on captive bred v wild caught. I’ll save this for another post but there are thousands of reasons why we will advocate for captive bred reptiles. Health and conservation being the biggest reasons. It’s lazy to take an animal from the wild to sell it for dirt cheap. Adopt from breeders who take the time to care for, breed and raise healthy reptiles. This is more than a business, it’s about animal welfare.
Getting a reptile, or any animal, should never be a spur of the moment decision. Always take the time to research the species and make sure you can provide the best home for that animal. 😊

Fear of snakes is taught.
Now a healthy fear is a good thing. You should respect them for what they are and properly educate your kids to not touch any snake they find outside.
Just like Jamie is taught to not play with fire, he’s taught to not grab snakes without mom and dad.
Just like any animal, snakes play a vital role in their ecosystem. Removing them can cause a negative chain reaction.
Nature is all about balance.
Let’s break stigmas and educate our kids to love and respect all nature.
