Guns Save Life Event with Rep. Miller on Nov. 27th

Springfield, IL…Save the date to join State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) as he and John Boch (Executive Director at Guns Save Life) host a special event focused on Second Amendment Rights. They will discuss the Illinois’ firearm ban and how Republican legislators are fighting to protect one of the most important laws in the Constitution.

“The purpose of this event is to offer the general public an opportunity to hear from myself and supporters of the Second Amendment, on ways we can stand up against a political power grab,” said Rep. Miller. “I think it’s important that constituents have transparency from legislators, and I want them to know they can share their voice at this event.”

Earlier this year, Pritzker signed a controversial gun ban into law, HB5471 which requires law abiding citizens to register specific fi****ms, magazines, and attachments to the Illinois State Police. Opponents of this new law feel their constitutional rights have been violated. Recently, Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur) has petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to review the Illinois Supreme Court’s decision on Illinois’ weapons ban law on due process, equal protection, and Second Amendment grounds.

Guns Save Life is a gun rights advocacy group dedicated to defending people’s right to defend themselves. This group is also affiliated with the National Rifle Association and the Illinois State Rifle Association.

Rep. Miller continued, “John and I know the importance of fighting to protect the Second Amendment and we look forward to speaking with the public and taking their questions after the event.”

For more information, please contact Rep. Miller’s office at (217) 508-4108, or his website, repcmiller.com.

Representative Chris Miller serves the constituents of Illinois’ 101st House District that includes parts of Coles County, including portions of Champaign, Douglas, and Vermilion Counties along the I-57 corridor.

This certainly looks like a pair of spider bites received while fetching books from the book drop.

Did you know that spiders can bite without injecting venom? As there doesn't seem to be any irritation, I certainly hope these were just "warning shots".

Generally spiders will not bite you. You are too big to eat and wasting venom on you might mean missing a meal. That could potentially mean starvation and death. If I did get bitten, it's very likely I was accidentally crushing a poor, little spider to death without realizing it.

There is no pain or irritation at the moment, which could be good or bad. On the one hand, these could be venomless bites or just some really suspicious looking pokes I rubbed rust in while collecting stray books. On the other hand, some potentially bad bites can be initially painless (like those of a brown recluse) and the spot where my hand was could be a good spot for an animal that likes to hide in warm dry places.

Not an experiment I intended to perform today, but I guess I'm about to find out.

Today at Beyond Monopoly!

Big box games are King of Tokyo, Tsuro, and Kill Doctor Lucky.

Kill Doctor Lucky is a pre-murder-mystery game. You know Clue? This is what happens right before that. Tsuro is the game of the path. It is possibly the simplest board game I have ever seen; if you can follow a line you can play. King of Tokyo is giant monsters battling in Tokyo, last one standing wins.

The rest of the selection here includes games for anywhere from two to six players in a wide variety of genres and mechanics.
