Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster and his deputies were sworn in Tuesday afternoon at a ceremony at the Drill Hall of the Sheriff’s office. Foster is now the longest serving sheriff in South Carolina. He currently is the Sheriff of the year.

The Warming Center at O'Neal Street UMC will open tomorrow starting at 10. Hot meals will be served and cots available for people who need a warm place to sleep.

A sad day for all of us connected with Newberry College. She was an icon!

We are heartbroken to share news of the passing of Mrs. Bobbie Sides. She was the College's heart and soul, having served faithfully in numerous capacities across generations of students. We will share any arrangements as they become available. Please hold the Sides family in your thoughts and prayers in the days and weeks ahead.

UPDATE: **Juvenile contacted the Prosperity Police Department and advised that they are alright. Law Enforcement confirmed that Juvenile is alright.
We appreciate the assistance from the public.

The Prosperity Police Department is seeking to contact the owner of the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) depicted in the picture. Several complaints have been received indicating that a young boy was heard screaming out the window for help while traveling westbound on US 76 in Prosperity near the Dollar General around 3:30pm. If you are the owner of the white SUV or have knowledge of the owner's identity, please contact the Prosperity Police Department at 803-364-2121.

A Guardian Angel in Scrubs ❤️ In a heart-stopping moment, one of our nurse's here at Newberry Hospital jumped right into action. This story shows that the care and compassion our nurses have show no boundaries - whether at work, or shopping at Walmart. Her quick thinking and life-saving actions helped one of our local community members make it through a critical emergency.
