After months of rising tensions over Ukraine between Russia and the US, bilateral relations have hit a new low as the Kremlin spokesperson defined the US an “enemy.”

Press secretary to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov reportedly said, “We are now an enemy country for them, just as they are for us,” during a press briefing on Tuesday.

The Kremlin had previously referred to the US and Western nations supporting Ukraine as “unfriendly states” or “opponents” due to high tensions over Ukraine’s use of American-supplied weapons on Russian territory.

However, according to Agentstvo, an independent Russian investigative site, this is the first time they have publicly labelled the US as an “enemy” state.

Speaking to TRT World, experts said there’s actually “nothing new here” because publicly stated or not, “the United States has long been considered by Russia as its enemy.”

BREAKING: Former President
has been found guilty on the 34 felony counts of falsifying business records after paying adult entertainer $130,000 shortly before the election. This decision comes after seven weeks of testimony and is historically the first criminal trial of an American president. Trump was indicted in March of last year following a years-long investigation.

The jury reached its verdict after 9.5 hours of deliberations. Yesterday, Judge Juan Merchan instructed jurors for about an hour on the how they were meant to inform jurors about how they are supposed to consider the 34 business falsification. The testimonies that the jury heard included claims that Trump, Cohen and David Pe**er plotted to cover up this payment. Cohen testified twice and Pe**er testified on his phone calls with Trump. Trump did not take the witness stand to offer his own account of what happened, despite proclaiming before the trial began that he would "absolutely" testify.

Overall, the prosecution called 20 witnesses in the case, while the defense called two. Trump continuously falsely claimed that the charges against him was a political grab orchestrated by President Joe Biden to keep the former president from getting back in office. Donald trump still has three other cases against him—a federal election Interterence case in Washington, D.C., a state election interference case in Georgia and a federal case alleging he mishandled classified documents and national security information. Sentencing is set for July 11th.
