Today is Part 2 of our interview with Jackie Bradbury!

In this episode, our friend Jackie Bradbury discusses people’s assumptions about self-defense: what it is, how it works, and especially what women need to learn.

Jackie answers these questions:

What are some assumptions you’re aware of regarding self-defense? Especially self-defense for women?

What can we do to overcome the assumptions that are made about self-defense?

Today's the day! The first part of our interview with Jackie Bradbury is uploaded to our platforms! In this episode, Jackie answers these questions:

How would you define self-defense?

How is that different than or similar to martial arts training?

Are there differences between training women and training men in self-defense? If so, what are they?

In this episode, we discuss a self-defense concept: continuing to fight even if you are captured and hurt. Sometimes, we need to stop fighting physically and start fighting mentally to avoid freezing or fawning, even if fighting looks like going to the police or hospital once we are free.

Show Notes:
Let's lay some groundwork
-Sometimes you can't stop what's happening
-You are entitled to protect yourself
-You are entitled to seek justice

What do we mean by "just keep fighting?"
-Even if you are externally compliant, be internally vigilant
-You will not defeat me
-I deserve justice
-Keep adjusting and strategizing to the situation

What does continuing to fight look like?
-Fight dirty
-Look for openings or options
-Staying in control of yourself
