In January the DeeDeeMouse team was on the move in the Czech Republic. We were doing research in Karlovy Vary and Loket Castle. Both location are featured in an upcoming book about a snail who has some unique features. This snail lives in a village at the base of Loket Castle. He discovers his special role after traveling to Karlovy Vary with his best friend (a hedgehog) to visit a wise stork.

With our youngest readers in mind, the Bedtime version of Grand Duchess Evelyn’s adventures was created last summer. Our 88 page story was modified by our talented editor Emily Arthur. The story still has the same sparkle but can be enjoyed in one sitting before bedtime.

We have had a few technical issues with our page in the past, hopefully they are behind us. With good luck and conviction, we will create an actual website with access to our books and a place for teachers to let their students leave reviews of favorite stories, characters, or events. A recent young reader in England said he liked the Mr. Fluffels story the best though he loved when the Bubble Bug got poked with the umbrella in the Bubble Bugs of Prague.

Finally, an introduction to our serious (sometimes stoic) dragon friend Mikos. Mikos is the oldest dragon. We don't know how much older...could be a minute, could be a year, or could be a thousand years. You can be sure that in future tales our little grand duchess will hear the dragons' chronology and let us know all the dragons' ages.
Mikos is a little shorter than Cerie and Koronis. We will see Mikos' jeweled tongue pattern and matching pattern behind the ears in future tales. Mikos' chest/belly area tends to be the most ornate of the three dragons. All dragons have areas of deeper darker gold. In these bands of almost a brownish-gold, only a few jewels grow or none at all. Mikos does have at least one band with gemstones.
We can tell you that Mikos has a gravelly voice that sounds an awful lot like the crunching of the gemstone sand under high-top boots. Just like the boots Captain Leonid wore. Of the three dragons, Mikos tends to be the grumpiest but underneath that crotchety exterior beats a heart of gold (along with every other organ).

We have been asked questions here at DeeDeeMouse Productions about our mineral-based dragons. Our younger readers want to know where the dragons came from...are there more dragons out and about....but most of all, our readers want to know how to tell them apart...
Now Grand Duchess Evelyn has no trouble telling them apart but she can see and hear them up-close. Dragons have very distinctive voices. Also size difference can help in identification. Besides these two descriptors, all mineral-based dragons have the following peculiar characteristics:
1. Individual patterns or marks in the minerals on their belly. These may become pronounced over time due to processes like oxidation. No dragon has the same pattern.
2. Individual patterns of jewels, stones, or metals on their tongues. This makes it possible to eat various minerals.
3. Now this third identifier is the hardest one to see on a dragon---the same pattern design on their tongue is matched to a pattern behind their ears. Good luck at seeing that pattern from the ground.
We will spend this week identifying Mikos, Koronis, and Cerie. Look for Mikos' information first.

Today we are so proud to announce a new book to our connected realm. “A Very Noisy Little Finch; Mr. Fluffels Begins His Bird Adventure.” It is amazing the places you can travel to in the comfort of your very own cage.

Mr. Fluffels was a energetic member of our family. Check out the beautiful artwork by our illustrator Cynthia Harris. She brings his story to life.

Also, a welcome to our editor Emily Arthur. This is her first official story with DeeDeeMouse Productions. She is busy working on vast multi-mediums for us.

My grandmother was a storyteller. When I close my eyes I can still picture the four of us snuggled close to her, eyes shining and ears listening, while embers burn low in the fireplace. Our wonderful Director of Storytelling, Roberta Drewiske, passed away in November of 2021. This seal was created in her honor. All projects big and small will contain this seal. She was a true light and inspiration. Bobbi loved a good story.
