Our Story

Model Citizen Media was created on June 29, 2016. We started with an idea of simply recognising aspiring models across the globe. That's right after a young lady crying for not being hired for a modelling job. That young lady was beautiful and had great potentials. She was our very first inspiration.

We created our Instagram account, @modelcitizenmedia. We have begun approaching models using Instagram's hashtags. Every time we encountered a photo of a model with a few likes but the potential was great; we felt bad. We did. We searched more, and we realised one thing, that the fashion industry is a community. It's a community of amazing and talented fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, labels and bloggers. They all are equally essential to make the fashion industry thriving. And we evolved. We created www.modelcitizenmag.com to focus on giving these amazing individuals exposure globally through interviews and blog posts. We believe that a simple recognition is something money can't buy.

Modelling is an art. It's a passion. It's about being seen. At Model Citizen App, we believe in recognising all models, whether they are aspiring, amateur or experienced. Our vision is that every fashion model, photographers, makeup artist, hair stylist, blogger, stylist, label, designer, and creative director, can be seen, their talent shared, and their potential unearthed. Every model has to start from somewhere, and it takes an enormous of guts to put yourself out there for everyone to see. So many individuals show great potential, only to be thrown back time and time again. Often, all it takes is greater exposure, and that's what we're hoping to give you. We hope that you embrace our vision as we do, and join the rising force in the modelling industry. We also understand the immense importance of photographers, stylists, make-up artists, and creative directors in making the fashion industry success. Without them, we wouldn't get to see the best side of our models. We have received enormous support from these people we do not know, whom we slowly learned about their life, challenges, passion and aspirations. We learned more than what we expected: The hopes of parents for their young models, a successful and famous lady whose attitude is her best asset more than her beautiful physique and face. A professional who left his job to be a model. A photographer who has been discriminated because he was not a local. A woman who never gives up on her dreams. A fashion designer who left his country to learn more about fashion design so he could come back and bring glory to his country. A mother who is a business woman but her love for her child is like no other. An aspiring model who was not aware of her high potentials. A creative director who is very talented, who should have her studio. A fashion label owner who gave us pieces of advice. A guy who never knew us but allowed us to use his photos for us to get started.

These people have become our inspiration. We are aware and understand that passion and dedication are not valued nowadays. But we are not any other start-ups. We are passionate about helping every person in the fashion industry as much as we could. And Model Citizen Magazine was born. If a piece of art is never seen, did it ever exist? So has been the philosophy of the fashion industry since its birth. It is the point of discovery that makes or breaks any artist’s career. And it is heart-breaking when talent is not discovered, and an artist loses hope. When someone puts themselves out there, it’s about believing they are on the edge of something beautiful. And we stand by you in that belief. You are a unique individual offering a unique creativity that someone, somewhere is looking for. This is what Model Citizen Magazine is all about. We are a platform for fashion models, photographers, stylists, make-up artists, bloggers, designers, labels and creative directors to be showcased. Model Citizen Magazine is like no other – it is the only magazine that's created fully by everyone's contribution of creativity and hard work. It is the only magazine that focuses on them and who they are. We only want the world to see their potential. We’re doing our bit by fostering a community of support. Your success is our success, and we want to be a part of your journey.

James knows just as much as anyone else, how difficult the fashion industry is. An ex-freelance model himself, he is inspired by the ability to find potential and creativity in others, and propel them for the world to see. James has a finance background, writing his thesis in the field of poverty economics. He sits on the board of a charity and is an Australian New Colombo Plan Fellow, representing Australia as a student ambassador to Singapore and China. He will be in-charge of talking to investors in the future. He loves travelling, recently doing a round-trip of Asia including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines. Macky has always been inspired by the creativity of others, delving into the art scene from a young age. Living in Asia for most of his life, he has seen fashion models and designers rise out of nowhere and become a raging success. Macky had worked for Citibank and JP Morgan Chase as a mortgage specialist where he developed his customer service through the years. Macky has worked as a sales strategist for much of his life. He is currently working as Area Sales Manager, for the most valuable company in the world. He understands how the fashion industry must adapt to a changing global landscape. He manages most of the marketing for Model Citizen App. He loves food, travelling and music. His passion is to provide the maximum possible exposure to upcoming fashion talent and get artists the recognition they deserve. Only two people are running Model Citizen App right now; that includes updating the website, answering emails, approaching people, building a relationship with our followers on Instagram, creating promotional materials and making Model Citizen Magazine possible. We are the only ones right now who fight and dedicate our spare time for these amazing individuals. Our company is registered in Australia and our goal in one year is to develop an app for the fashion industry. An app which will not disrupt the industry, yet, would help everyone to gain more exposure, maximise the earnings and give opportunities to those who are unseen. We have enormous respect for the people and agencies who worked so hard for decades to be where they are right now. We are not an agency, and we will never be. If you understand what we do as a company, and you admire and love what we do, please do not hesitate to share the website with your friends, family and fans.
