Fotolibros Venezolanos en el MoMA 🇻🇪📓 Venezuelan Photobooks and magazines at MoMA! 🎊🗽—

Recently we had the honor of curating a small selection of photobooks (with some catalogs and magazines) for the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Thanks to everyone who trusted us with their project. We will keep working towards more collaborations and creating opportunities for Latin American initiatives in the US, as this work is becoming more essential than ever.

Exciting news! 🎉🫂 🇻🇪We just moved the studio to a bigger location in Williamsburg. It has been a lot of work but we are incredibly happy. We will have a reading room to better accommodate our community, readers, and researchers that want to come visit. Appointments will be opened soon.

We also have ONE spot left for a book or design project starting 2025 (Feb-April) so if you want to work with us, book a consultation on our website. The link is in our bio. Nov to Jan are fully booked, larger projects are not open until further notice (most likely after April) Thanks to everyone who has supported us, and allowed us to grow, we are specially grateful with our awesome clients and community. Thanks for your trust.

GRACIAS.

We are happy to share this collaboration we made with • • •

This is a special limited edition (each different) that we made with Luis Cobelo. The collaboration began a year ago when he hosted his show in our studio in Williamsburg. “El Informador (1996-1999)” is a unique photo album intervened with collages, photomontage, and drawings. The series refers to his work as a photojournalist in the 90’s in Venezuela, showing ludic parallels between found objects and photos taken for and from the news.

The archival case we designed has a series of dry stamped giclée prints. This was designed by our team ( + ) in the city of New York in 2024. We decided to include his ID card from when he worked in the press to recreate the aesthetic of a file folder. The metal closures are similar to the same metal finishing in filing units and to many quotidian materials used in some newsrooms back in the day. The endpapers and envelope inside are also similar to the shades of newspaper but acid free. was in charge of the production of the box.

Cobelo was born in  Acarigua, Venezuela. After a 20-year career as a photojournalist in the Americas, Asia, and Europe, his work is currently focused on art and the production of photobooks and exhibitions.

We made it, we won! 🥂🎉🎈
Last week we received the news that our book “Crania” by Adalber Salas Hernandez (with drawings by Jesus H. Verano and Translated by Robin Myers) won the highest achievement in the editorial category (The Grand Prix )in the Latin American Design Awards celebrated in Brazil. We are beyond honored and really grateful with the people involved: Javier Aizpurua, Cory Rockliff, Ufuk Sahin, Graciela Yáñez, and everyone who purchased the book and believed in us.

Special thanks goes to Katherine Gomes for representing us in the ceremony. 🇧🇷🇻🇪🇻🇪🇻🇪

As a big surprise we also received a second award for best Venezuelan studio. We are receiving it as a reminder of how all of us are part of the country, the ones still living there, plus others like us, in exile. We think it’s fundamental to acknowledge how much more complex it is to run a studio inside of Venezuela with so many variables. We want to honor the tradition of amazing designers that our country has helped shape, and we do not take this recognition lightly.

We hope to continue supporting and representing our community and colleagues from abroad as much as we can. This is just the beginning.

¡Ganamos!

“¿Come usted, señor presidente? ? —El Gran Viaje Del Señor C**a (2004), Angéle Delanouis y Marie Lafrance.

MoMA! 🗃️🗄️🎊We are really happy that most of the books we have published are now part of Archives and Research Center. A little over a year ago, our publication on Karmele Leizaola (1929-2021) became part of their collection. Now our feature with Katherine Small Gallery on Víctor Viano + the Carlos Cruz-Diez’ catalog made with Archivo Fotografía Urbana Museo Reina Sofía & Atelier Cruz Diez. This selection includes all our archival + literary publications from 🇻🇪Venezuelan authors and even a passport from the project “Bound” by Faride Mereb from the exhibit co-curated with Fabiola Delgado with support of Washington Project for the Arts. Books by Gabriela Kizer, Luis Moreno Villamediana, Lynne Shapiro and Adalber Salas are also included.

Group effort with foundries involved like or drawings by .studio and more. Same goes for all the authors, photographers and translators involved.

These books will be soon available for research and consultation. Make sure to make an appointment and to spread the word! This was made possible because of the independent efforts of our team. No larger foundations were involved. Cheers!
