The fashion industry is having a spiritual awakening. Or at least, it’s very good at performing one.

This week’s Sustainability Pulse looks at what’s actually happening beneath the surface, the Trashion shows and the craft revivals and the mindful dressing editorials, while Shein expands its supply chain empire, AI eliminates human jobs, and Lululemon gets investigated for selling forever chemicals inside a wellness brand.
We are extraordinarily good at celebrating sustainability as an aesthetic while the machinery runs exactly as it always has.
This week’s edition is less a trend report and more an honest question: at what point does talking about change become the thing we do instead of making it?

New research dropped and it’s brutal: Gen Z & Millennials talk a big game about circular fashion, but when it’s time to actually change our shopping habits? crickets
Environmental concern ≠ willingness to pay more
Awareness ≠ action
Caring ≠ changing
Plot twist: luxury resale is booming (€60B by 2030), secondhand is officially cool now, BUT a Yale study just revealed resale shoppers might actually buy MORE new clothes too 💀
So are we helping or just… shopping with extra steps?
This week’s newsletter cuts through the greenwashing and gets real about why the attitude-behavior gap exists—and what might actually close it.

The first week of January always brings me to silence.

This piece started with hosting an art event, crystallized coffee drippers that stopped me mid-conversation. Artist transforms discarded materials through a copper sulfate solution that grows crystals slowly, unpredictably, under precise conditions.

Her work asks: what if healing requires the same thing? Safety, patience, the right temperature. No forcing.
