Thanks for wishing me happy birthday last week! My birthday month is turning out to be truly memorable this year. I'm receiving not one but three awards in honor of my community contributions. Last night, I was one of 25 Brooklynites to receive Brooklyn.org's Changemakers Award. Next week, I will be one of five Just Brooklyn Prize recipients to be honored at Barclays Center on Oct. 30! Finally, I'm a proud recipient of the National Conference of Artists NY Inc.'s Black History Makers Award in Harlem (Dwyer Cultural Center on 11/16/24). Brooklyn and Harlem are special to me, I'm deeply tied and connected to both places. They are truly magical communities that have inspired me to dream big and keep building African Voices and Reel Sisters.

I'm grateful to be recognized by my Brooklyn and Harlem family. Grateful to the Creator and Ancestors for blessing me with the fortitude to serve with humility. 💜

ImageNation Outdoors & Reel Sisters is presenting a special screening of the HBO documentary The Apollo this Saturday, Sept. 7 in celebration of Harlem Week's 50th Anniversary!
