In Memoriam: Brice Marden (1938-2023) - An excerpt from GEOMETRIC ABSTRACTION: ART/new york No. 17
Artist Brice Marden has recently passed at the age of 84. Marden was one of the more important painters to have emerged in the last 20th century. In 1983, ART/new york interviewed him for our tape on Geometric Abstraction, where he talks about numerology and our emotional response to patterns. In light of his passing, we have decided to make available our full 1983 segment on his work. RIP Brice.
This interview is part of GEOMETRIC ABSTRACTION - ART/new york No. 17. The full program also includes an interview with Al Held, and footage of exhibitions by Al Held at the Andre Emmeric Gallery and Sol Lewitt at the John Weber and Barbara Toll Galleries.
All of our programs are available for streaming on artnewyork.org/programs. Please visit for more.
