UCLA Law Professor on ABC News Radio
Last week, UCLA School of Law Assistant Professor of Law Xiyin Tang appeared on ABC Audio “Tech Trends” to discuss the recent lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft by eight newspapers, including the NY Post and Chicago Tribune, claiming copyright infringement around the use of articles to train ChatGPT and Copilot.
Xiyin emphasized the stakes for the future of the local news industry.
“What the plaintiffs are really concerned about are the arguments that the AIs are being trained to replace them,” she said.

Mid-Atlantic MarCom Summit
With the 2024 election cycle in full swing and cybersecurity at the top of mind for millions of Americans, we are honored to work side by side with Defending Digital Campaigns.
DDC works with political campaigns to protect them from cyber actors who want to cause harm to the bedrock of our democracy: elections. With stories of cyberattacks popping up daily, DDC is working with leading tech companies like Google to protect everyone involved in a campaign – from the candidate down to each volunteer.
At the Mid-Atlantic MarCom Summit in November, Thatcher+Co. Senior Vice President Eva Nordstrom and DDC President and CEO Michael Kaiser spoke on a panel about how non-profits like DDC can break out of the echo chamber to create communications that matter.
Nordstrom, a former executive producer at CBS News and CNN, pointed out that people are more likely to connect with information that is presented as a story and is told with authenticity. Kaiser said sometimes organizations fail to connect the message to the audience. You can hear more from Kaiser in the video below:
We just had to jump on this trend ... Why? Because of course we work in PR! #PublicRelations #BrandStorytelling #MediaRelations #PRstrategy #DigitalPR #ofcourseI
