Green Canvas Productions proudly hosted the Bronx Independent Cinema Center ( ) for their remarkable History of Bronx Cinema video series! As part of this exciting project, BICC sat down with Mateen Kemet, a Bronx-born filmmaker whose creative journey is nothing short of inspiring. Now splitting his time between New York and Los Angeles, Mateen has written and directed 12 short films, a music video, and 11 screenplays. His evolution from Wall Street bond trader to public school teacher—and ultimately to a trailblazing filmmaker—embodies the resilience and passion that define Bronx storytelling.

This past Saturday, we hosted another incredible photography mixer at our studio! The event was a fantastic opportunity for photographers of all levels to connect, network, and collaborate in a creative and inspiring environment. Guests had the chance to experiment with their cameras, explore different setups in our studio space, and share ideas with fellow photography enthusiasts.

Green Canvas Productions recently hosted the Bronx Independent Cinema Center ( ) for their *History of Bronx Cinema* project video series! As part of this production, BICC conducted interviews with two notable figures: Mark Jacobson and Thomas Maguire.

Mark Jacobson, a renowned writer with deep ties to New York’s cinematic history, shared stories from his family’s legacy of projectionists, which inspired his passion for cinema. With screenwriting credits including *American Gangster*—the Ridley Scott film starring Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, and Chiwetel Ejiofor—Mark offered a unique perspective on the old-school NYC cinema culture.

Thomas Maguire, a sound specialist who worked in Bronx theaters in the 1970s, recalled his dedication to technical excellence. He also spoke about his expertise in recording music and the meticulous work involved in building and maintaining high-quality sound equipment, which enriched the cinema-going experience in the Bronx.

Together, these interviews provide a fascinating glimpse into the cultural and technical heritage of Bronx cinemas.

This past Saturday, we had the exciting opportunity to host and at our studio.

was interviewed by , where she shared her fascinating journey of coming of age while enjoying movies during the vibrant golden age of Bronx cinema from the 60’s. We explored the unfortunate decline into an era dominated by VHS rentals and now streaming. It’s clear that both Gen Z and older generations long for the magic of theatres to make a triumphant return!

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the annual meeting for the 161st Street Business Improvement District, hosted by Charles (Trey) Jenkins and Michael Darryl Torres. Being part of the Bronx community and collaborating with businesses dedicated to building a vibrant commercial corridor is always inspiring. This year, my company, Green Canvas Productions, partnered with the 161 BID to produce a series of videos celebrating their work. Our most recent project was a highlight reel capturing the excitement of the Yankees’ long-awaited return to the World Series after 15 years!
