Women & Fashion FilmFest brings together members of the fashion, film, television, and media industries. The aims of the festival are not to discover or uncover fashion related films, but rather to foster discussion among members of these industries through films and to create a stronger sense of community. While the festival’s mission is to unite members of these industries, first and foremost, t
o examine issues related to women, it also seeks to discuss issues facing the fashion and entertainment industries and to celebrate and honor leaders in fashion, entertainment and media. The Women & Fashion FilmFest also aims to serve as an ongoing, long-term platform bringing together members of the above industries through special film screenings and discussions. Education and outreach also form a critical focus. In conjunction with faculty at The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), students will develop fashion film shorts as part of FIT’s course module. A selection of these Student Fashion Shorts will be screened at the film festival. Unlike other existing fashion film festivals, The Women & Fashion FilmFest focuses on community building, making it an innovative festival in one of the world’s greatest fashion, entertainment and media capitals.
