Sad news. Condolences to friends and family who knew him. One of the few sane voices in his generation of, "western," media.
In the last couple decades, he has consistently critiqued the military industrial complex, brought focus to the 2nd Intifada in Palestine, the railroading of Julian Assange & the free media/left hacker scene, and many other conflicts.
There are tons of other voices now, who are younger, and less yt, but he was an important example and bridge to euro culture.

John Richard Pilger (/ˈpɪldʒər/; born 9 October 1939) is an Australian journalist, writer, scholar, and documentary filmmaker.[1] He has mainly been based in Britain since 1962.[2][3][4] He has also been a visiting professor at Cornell University in New York.[5]
