Admission free for this international premiere and rare opportunity to view the fashion style that is sweeping Japan’s youth ~“Coming of Age” (成人式, Seijin-shiki) Kimono from the House of MIyabi ~ and also reviving much interest in Kimono crafts … often as a lifeline to preserve traditional techniques.
Come meet Miyabi Kimono of Kitakyushu’s chef designer Ikeda san and curator Spree Kingyo from Berlin.

• Rainbow ~ a subtle blending of colors signifying so many themes including peace, nature and ‘Pride’
• Zen Garden ~ representing the sand patterns lapping rocks in Japanese Gardens …. perhaps Ryōan-ji
Both were created in collaboration with Saitama artist Takashi Sekizawa produced with Chusen hand-dye techniques.

Hello Insta & TikTok - preview peek of our upcoming exhibition “Kimono Rebellion”. … the newest trend of “Coming of Age” Kimono that is igniting a renewed interest with Japan’s youth for this emblematic garment .
Dazzling white and silver furisode with a stunning mix of traditional and modern patterns: ancient waves and cherry blossoms, combined with roses, which appeared only relatively recently in Japanese iconography. Adorned with rhinestones and brocade, silver obi and sparkly date-eri, it all comes together for one magnificent monochromatic outfit.

We are getting excited for the NYC debut of Japanese sound artist Fuji||||||||||ta, and wondering what kind of self-built pipe organ he'll bring for his June 22 concert at Brooklyn Music School!
Tickets are going fast for AvanTokyo (in collaboration with Issue Project Room) presentation. Fuji||||||||||ta, who performs in-person with his self-built one-of-a-kind pipe organ instrument that incorporates voice synthesized water tanks. The evening will also feature work from sound artist Tomoko Hojo.
After the pandemic hiatus, the Globus Family is proud that “Visions of Okinawa: Cinematic Reflections” will be our next offering in our eponymous annual series at Japan Society’s film program.
