“When you see someone sitting on the floor with their dog on them in public (like in this photo), they aren't just "cuddling" their dog. The dog is actually actively performing a task called deep pressure therapy.
9 out of 10 times if you see someone like this, they are experiencing some kind of medical episode. This is not the time to ask them questions, ask/attempt to pet their dog etc. At most, ask if the handler is OK and needs anything but nothing more.
This task can help with many different medical issues but for me when Levi does this, he is helping lower my heart rate and thus helping to prevent a fainting episode!
Service dogs are so amazing. They have such big jobs which is why it's so important to never distract them.”
