10 years of Vacationland and We’ve Been Looking Everywhere.

10 years ago, we embarked on a journey. Along the way, we built a company with a collective of filmmakers who put community first and became family. We’re forever optimistic about the art of film to make change, maybe now more than ever. We revel in the process and stay open to its mystery.

We looked back at the films we’ve made, the places we’ve been, and the people we’ve worked with along the way. And you know what? It’s been a trip and reminded us why we started this journey in the first place. We hope you enjoy this recap, a decade in the making. We can’t wait for our next adventure.

ROW OF LIFE - BIG SKY PITCH
Angela Madsen, a 3x Parlympian and Marine Veteran, aimed to be the first paraplegic, openly gay athlete, and oldest woman to row the Pacific Ocean alone. On day 60, halfway between California and Hawaii, Angela vanished. Over a year later, her boat washed up in a remote atoll with all the cameras and footage of her final days on board.

Casting for a new series we are producing with our friends at Travel+Leisure!

T+L's new travel show is looking to reunite 2 people who haven’t seen each other in a while (want to reunite with an old friend, a family members, star-crossed lover?..etc) on a trip of a lifetime at a halfway point between the two travelers’ locations in the states. The travelers will be getting to the heart of the “midpoint” city through an uniquely curated experience designed by Travel+Leisure. It has been hard to travel through the pandemic and we want to reunite you with a loved one and make a travel TV show about it!

**All expenses paid and stipend provided.

Tell us your backstory. We want to know a little bit about you, the person you want to reunite with and why, your relationship with that person, where you both currently live, how long it’s been since you last saw this person, relationship highlights...etc.BOTH TRAVELERS MUST BE BASED IN THE UNITED STATES and are comfortable being on camera as the entire trip will be documented.

**Currently prioritizing separated star-crossed lovers’ + reuniting with parents stories.**

Applicants must have availability weeks between August 25th & September 12th for 2 x travel days and 2 x shoot days.

VACATIONLAND is seeking a contract Post Producer to oversee management of post prod assets, post scheduling, deliverables, and editorial staffing.

Though the position is contract at the outset, there is opportunity for a full time staff position.

Job Requirements:
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Suite
- Google Docs, Calendar, Sheets
- Ability to organize media and manage editors and assistant editors
- Familiarity with video server management

Work Experience:
- 5+ years in video post production
- Experience with branded content and documentary filmmaking workflow
- Previous experience supervising post production

On 15 April 2021, Patagonia will launch We the Power, a campaign and documentary shining a light on the renewable community energy movement, in the UK and across Europe. Today, one million European citizens are involved in this growing movement. By 2050, it could be more than 260 million citizens and help generate up to 45 percent of Europe’s electricity – providing local jobs, reduced energy bills, a healthier environment, and a stronger social fabric. So proud to see this beautiful film come to life ❤️

When we founded Vacationland ago we built a company on a belief. A belief that we have a responsibility as filmmakers to leave the world a little better than we found it.

The last year has allowed us to drive these values even further home by challenging how we work and interact with the world and people around us.

We are fortunate to be working and thriving in a year when so many businesses have shuttered, so many livelihoods threatened, and so many loved ones lost. It has strengthened our dedication to expanding our team of collaborators to represent the world we want to see as we wield our tools as filmmakers to contribute to social change.

We put together a field study to share the documentary films and commercial projects we produced this year despite the production challenges of Covid. We premiered two new films, Havana Libre and We the Power, at Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, filmed remote productions in 10 countries, released an IGTV series In My Saves with Instagram for Business, created new work with our friends at Rivian, and so much more.
