Days before Christmas, my husband Greg tossed a crumpled $50 bill at me.

"Here," he said smugly. "Make a proper Christmas dinner. Don't embarrass me in front of my family."

I picked up the bill and stared at him, dumbfounded. "Greg, this won't even cover a turkey, let alone a whole dinner for eight people."

He shrugged, leaning casually against the fridge. "My mom ALWAYS managed. Be resourceful, Claire. If you're not up for it - just say so. But I'll have to tell my family not to expect much."

I clenched my fists, but instead of snapping, I smiled sweetly. "Oh, don't worry, Greg. I'll make it work."

For the next few days, I played the "dutiful wife" but it was part of my BIG REVENGE. I used my personal savings to prepare the most lavish Christmas dinner Greg's family had ever seen.

What Greg didn't know was that dessert would come with a "surprise" he'd never forget. ⬇️

After our dad's death, my sister lost it. Mom rewrote the will, leaving her only 30%. Mom had her reasons — Helga was greedy and only showed up when she needed money. The last straw was their talk over the phone on speaker:

Mom: "I get to decide who receives my money."
Helga: "GOD, I CAN'T WAIT FOR YOU TO DIE, AND I'LL SUE FOR MY SHARE!"

Jeez, I knew she was a selfish lunatic, but I never thought she'd go that far. After that, she called Mom every day, demanding she change the will. Eventually, Mom couldn't take it anymore, and soon she passed away. God rest her soul.

At the funeral, Helga put on a whole show, acting heartbroken. And then she started harassing me — just like she did to Mom. I decided to get a little creative.

A month later, I called her myself.
Me: "I sold Mom's house. Even though it was mine, I'll give you half if you leave me alone. Deal?"
Helga: "Perfect! I agree!"

I left her the number of a safety deposit box and took off. Imagine her surprise when she found THIS ENVELOPE!

This winter hit hard, and my boots finally gave up after five long years. The soles cracked, water seeped in, and even double socks couldn't keep my feet warm. I take care of the kids full-time while my husband, Greg, works a decent job at a tech company.

When I asked Greg for money for new boots, he gave me a look like I'd asked him to buy me a yacht. "My mom needs a microwave for Christmas. You can wait until next year."

I was stunned. "Greg, these are falling apart. I can't wait."

But he just raised his hand, all smug, and said, "I said no, Lauren. I decide how MY money is spent."
