As the Archdiocese of New York prepares for the installation of Ronald A. Hicks on February 6, St. Patrick's Cathedral tells the story of what it means to shepherd the Church.

The cathedra, the bishop’s chair, is the most literal symbol of episcopal authority, while the coats of arms beneath our feet are from past cardinals and archbishops.

Red galeros hang high in the cathedral, symbolizing the office and authority of a cardinal. When Archbishop-designate Hicks takes his place as archbishop, the galero and tassels in his coat of arms will be green, the color used for bishops and archbishops.

"This retreat is designed to help young adults with their faith formation so that they can go out and be the light of Christ, and so the retreat is called Warriors of Light," Guelmis Tavarez, director of Noche Blanca Ministry, told The Good Newsroom. "It's important that they know that they can be a light, and that they can help illuminate others to know Jesus."

The Cross is the center of our life, the center of Salvation. When we have the Crucifix up in our home, we’re telling ourselves and our neighbors that this is a Christian home, a Catholic family, and we look to Jesus as our guide and Our Savior.

Archdiocese of New York Auxiliary Bishop Whalen had supportive words for Father Limongi during his installation at Holy Name of Jesus-St Gregory the Great Parish saying he has “the sensitivity to the people as an immigrant himself, as a young person who was a young professional before he became a priest.”

He added that Father Limogni “can reach out to the young professionals in this neighborhood, and yet he’s able to unite all the different communities that make up this one family of faith with a unique gift, great dedication, and just a real true priestly presence.”
