In this heartbreaking episode of Gold Shields, Dan and I interview NYPD Homicide Detective Wil Acevedo, who ran the investigation into the murder of Tessa Majors in 2019. The case was particularly compelling due to the youth of the victim, and to add even more focus, a promising student at Columbia University. Detective Acevedo discusses the initial response to the scene, the challenges of the investigation, and the hunt for the suspects. High profile cases in New York City always end up having a political charge to it, and this was no different. Wil and his team worked tirelessly to get the people involved for this senseless murder, and to bring justice for a 19 year old young girl who had her whole future in front of her. LAW AND CRIME NETWORK invited me on to discuss the disappearance of 11 year old Madalina Cojocari from North Carolina in 2022.
I spoke with Host Sierra Gillespie and went over the facts of the case, and the investigative steps that have been taken, as well as my thoughts of where it should go next.

In this episode, we interview Ken Kraus, a former United States Marine who was taken hostage during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. Ken was 22 years old and the first hostage taken during this heart stopping historical event. Ken describes the attack on the embassy, the negotiations with the militants, and the brutal 8 days he endured as a hostage, and ultimately being sentenced to be executed. Despite facing his own mortality, Ken Kraus maintained his faith and commitment to serving his country. After his release, he continued his service in the military and later as a police officer. Ken's story is a testament to the resilience and bravery of those who serve in the face of extreme adversity.

THE OJ SIMPSON CASE: 30 YEARS LATER

On June 12, 1994 the world was alerted to a crime scene in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles where two bodies were discovered brutally murdered. The difference in this case was that one of the victims was Nicole Brown Simpson, the ex-wife of NFL star OJ Simpson and the other victim was a friend of Nicole's named Ron Goldman, and to make it more intriguing, OJ was the prime suspect. The events that took place were right out of a Hollywood production studio, from the manhunt for OJ, to the white Bronco car chase on Live TV, to the circus of "The Trial of the Century". This case not only divided the city of Los Angeles, but also parts of the country. You couldn't escape it, it was everywhere, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and there was no end in site. The trial was seen around the world, and when the verdict was read, it divided neighborhoods even more.
Did OJ do it?, did anyone help him?, and the countless other questions will all be addressed on this episode of GOLD SHIELDS.
Along with Crime Scene and Cold Case expert Sheryl McCollum, and retired LAPD Robbery/Homicide Detective Barry Telis we dive deep into this historical case, with some interesting perspectives and analysis.
